“La Gracia is a small certified organic vegetable and seed operation, established 12 years ago and certified organic since 2006. We specialize in growing leeks, garlic and cucumbers on about 4,800 square feet of hand-double-dug raised beds. Companion and trap crop planting and crop rotation are practiced. Located in a remote corner of Rabun County, Georgia, far from any GMO fields, La Gracia’s plants are pollinated the old-fashioned way, by wild bees. Soil amendments include “green manure” cover crops, compost, OMRI-approved amendments and highly composed goat, horse and cow manure. No u-pick-em or farm visits, please. But come see us Saturday mornings at the Simply Homegrown Farmers’ Market in Clayton (www.simplyhomegrown.org) or get a taste of our fare on Wednesday afternoons through the auspices of the Northeast Georgia Locally Grown “internet market” (www.northeastgeorgia.locallygrown.net).”
